Hmmm.... sounds like a certain ground school model I once knew. :P
Seriously, this model stands in stark contrast to the visual, critical approach taken by a tutor of mine, who makes sketches of relevant aviation‐related material we're learning about, and then asks me rich questions to stretch my thinking to the next level. My retention is higher and my understanding deeper after one session with this tutor than after 3 hours on the equivilant topic in last fall's GS!
Of course, part of that learning may simply be that I've heard/read/seen the material in different formats 4–5 times now, and coupled with the practical aspect of being in the left seat of a cessna, things may be starting to congeal in my pitifully underdeveloped neocortex, lol!
Waiting for my bus at the end of the subway line, I closed my eyes and did some "chair flying" — halfway across the base leg for 26, I was rudely interrupted by a colleague who had just arrived to wait for the same bus; when he asked me what I was daydreaming about, I launched into a detailed explanation. Intrigued by flying, he asked me a whole bunch of questions, and to my surprise, I knew all the answers!!!
I guess I am learning. :)
