March 13, 2012 - Review of Basics
How amazing it was to be up in the air again, making the airplane do what I want by pushing forward, back, left or right on the controls... oops, well, sort of what I want. With the crazy upper winds, the Cessna 150 seemed to have a little bit of a mind of its own, and we got tossed around quite a bit!! Nevertheless, it was an opportunity to reconnect with my instructor, whom I hadn't taken a lesson with since November (!), and to reaquaint myself with the 150 and with the airspace around the flight school. And, although I was definately uncomfortable, I was not terrified as in the early days of my flying. So, some progress has not been lost!
We stayed over the water and reviewed straight and level, climbs, descents, and slow flight (as lousy as ever). My approach and landing reminded me of how desperately in need of more lessons I am!!
Next time we'll hopefully review circuits, and who knows... if I study my ER procedures and don't completely crap out my landings, I may actually solo again sometime in this life! :-P
