March 15, 2011 - More Cross Wind Practise
Tonight's lesson is a bit of a blur because I crammed it in before GS, and didn't update my site right away. Also, I haven't been sleeping well lately, so I'm not thinking straight (yes, I realise this is not an ideal condition for a pilot, lol!)
From what I remember, I flew somewhat acceptably, even getting my A/S to 60 as soon as Lari pulled his usual tricks of cutting out the engine on me mid downwind, so it became my base leg and I suddenly had to land Xwind from too high and too close on 33. It wasn't a graceful landing, but proved at least I was confident enough to take control.
He told me to have my weather checked, and W&B for my next flight. Weather (and my demonstrated ability) permitting, it could be my first solo circuit. Odd.
Ground school afterwards was good. Taught by a different instructor than we had for this topic for last time, and she tried to make it practical, applying endless tables and calculations to a ficticious flight scenario. We even got homework and a small group assignment. Should be interesting.
