March 12, 2011 - Brampton with Tatiana
After nearly a week of slush and soup, grandiose plans to fly to Brampton for a women pilots' lunch with the 99s turned into yet another weather-related fiasco! Miraculously, the morning started off looking promising enough -- the golden sun made allusions of grandeur during my morning walk along the lake. Alas, by the time I arrived at the airport, the all-too-familiar grey sky had moved in once again.
Not too be deterred, Tatiana and I looked at CFS and charts to plan our route, ambitiously thinking that perhaps we could navigate around any questionable weather. Even Lari checked in by phone and text to encourage the operation.
Alas, no sooner had we started the plane and planned our taxi off the apron, then giant, fluffy flakes began to fall and the visibility was reduced to nil in a matter of seconds. Arggh!
We thought about waiting it out a bit, but then figured -- since lunch would be over by the time we arrived (if we even arrived) -- it was not worth the risk/hassle. So we went for a looooong lunch downtown instead. And that was not so bad. :)
Back to boring old circuits for me on Tuesday before ground school, weather -- as always -- permitting!!!
