March 19, 2012 - Foggy Circuits
Finally, after two lessons cancelled due to weather, I had another lesson with Korkka. The idea was to do a circuit review, and then send me solo.
Conditions were excellent, with calm winds nearly right down the runway. We were even signed up to fly GGNJ, my favourite plane!
Alas, the weather won yet again... we were delighted with a unique flight above some low level clouds over the island, but then the strange misty fog closed in from the west, and our fourth circuit had to be a full stop.
At least my approaches were not too high this time, as I was more aware of turning from base to final at a more reasonable height, and I tried to remember to use right rudder, too, when turning crosswind from rwy 08. That being said, I definitely still need to work on when to flare, i.e. don't pull back too soon, I think, and then, when I do finally pull back, pull the phuc back to hold the nose off the runway.
Check out the circuit pics below (not taken by me, obviously!) on each leg… (click to enlarge)
