Wow, what a difference landing on the same runway (08) I have landed on a hundred times in a Cessna, in a "big" plane!!! For one thing, the landing roll is a lot longer and a lot faster! Another neat thing is that the landing gear on the Dash 8 folds up into the wing, so during the descent, a little flap opens, and out pops the wheel! (We were sitting right next to the wing, so we had a perfect view of this miraculous contraption!!) The landing gear on the Cessna 150 I fly, on the other hand, is fixed. It was also strange disembarking and walking into an actual terminal -- I have not done this on the island since starting to fly. I've gotten so used to getting out of the plane and walking into the door beside Hangar 4, it seemed really odd to not be able to just walk across the apron to the "right" door, lol!
I've been on a few "commercial" flights now since starting to fly myself, and one thing I still can't figure out is the flare. So obvious in a small plane, on Porter, AC or Westjet, it just isn't obvious to me at all. But maybe that's because I am in a passenger seat, rather than the cockpit... Regardless, it's still more fun to fly now than ever before! :)
